| About the Murrindindi Climate Network |
|
"Climate
change is a critical issue that cuts across all the different
aspects of society and even if everyone only does something
small to help, we can together make a considerable difference.
Representatives of different community groups, Landcare groups,
outdoor education, Berry Street, the Goulburn Broken Catchment
Management Authorities, the Murrindindi Shire, local businesses
and other institutions got together last Sunday [March 25th,
2007] at the Molesworth hall to brainstorm ideas on how the
community could get involved to address climate change issues.
At the end of the day, participants agreed to the formation
of a Murrindindi Climate Network.
Organised by Murrindindi Roots and Shoots and Acheron Valley
Watch, the Murrindindi Climate Network was arranged in the
belief that there are many strategies that can be undertaken
to reduce the impact of human activity on the environment,
but this requires the support and coordination of many stakeholders
under the umbrella of a united network.
The new Murrindindi Climate Network believes that, by working
co-operatively, they will have a much stronger voice and
greater influence to move Murrindindi towards a more sustainable
future."
